The wait for the trailer for Spider-Man: No way home has been a long one with nary a leak. At least, until Sunday. A TikTok video from an account watermarked “1angryguy” shows a phone recording of a phone recording with a tiny, pre-vfx trailer for the next Spider-Man film. The Spider-Man: No way home trailer leak appears to be legitimate, given that the video belongs to a visual effects producer who worked on Thor: Ragnarok and Ant-Man and the Wasp. also on the video is a watermark reading “Superhero Theorist” and “Edward Rose,” a podcaster and geek blogger. They reported, in a now-deleted tweet, that the trailer would debut at Cinema con and be paired with Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten Rings.
Shortly after the Spider-Man: No way home trailer leak showed up online, Sony pictures began issuing DMCA takedown notices. The video is still out there, but they don’t stay up for long. Still, this proves there is a trailer, and that it is coming soon. As much as I love spoilers, unless you want a mostly unpleasant auditory experience, it’d be worth the wait for the official trailer release.

From what I could determine from the video, it seems that the film begins right where Spider-Man: far From home ended. This is interspersed with a conversation between Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Zendaya’s MJ, about Spider-Man and his power to “hypnotize” girls. He’s shown in a police interrogation room explaining that he did not kill Mysterio. MJ tells him this is a chance to live without lying to people. So, it seems the secret stays out.
We then see Peter at doctor Strange’s home, which is covered in snow. Now, this might be a mystical mishap. Or, it may just be winter and he still hasn’t fixed the impromptu skylight the Hulk created for him in Avengers: Endgame. We know from set photos that at least part of this film takes place in winter. doctor strange does Peter a solid casting a spell to make the entire world forget his secret identity. strange is warned against this by Benedict Wong’s Wong (meaning we may get a direct Shang-Chi connection). strange then says something difficult to hear about spacetime and the concept of the multiverse.
We also see a bunch of unfinished visual effects shots showing some reality-warping stuff. It looks like it could be part of the mirror dimension from doctor Strange, but it may be something else. We see what is meant to be explosions and devastation in public. The trailer then closes with a mostly CGI Alfred Molina as doctor Octopus greeting Peter.
What we don’t see? any previous Peter Parkers, Mary Janes, or Daredevil. Yet, no doubt they’d keep some of those cameos as a surprise if they are in there.
Spider-Man: No way home debuts in theaters on December 17, 2021.
