Hold onto your eyeballs people because the Spider-Verse is going in a bunch of different artistic directions! When Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse was first announced, people weren’t sure what to think. It focused on Miles Morales, but it was also animated. Not long after its release though, into the Spider-Verse quickly became a fan-favorite. thanks to the spectacular visuals, the heartwarming story, and the cast of quirky characters (Peter Porker! Spider-Man Noir!), the animated film cemented the idea of a Spider-Verse actually existing and having a place in the Spider-Man franchise. now we know a sequel is coming and it will be titled Spider-Man: across the Spider-Verse (Part One). even much more exciting? Co-writer and producer Chris Miller said what the art style in across the Spider-Verse is would be an “opportunity artistically.”
What Is The Art style In across The Spider-Verse going to Be Like?

The visuals in Into the Spider-Verse were absolutely spectacular and the team working on the sequel are looking forward to sharing it with the world. In an interview with Collider, filmmaking duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller spoke about the creative process in Spider-Man: across the Spider-Verse. Miller said:

“It is, as Phil said, a very ambitious sequel because we didn’t want to just sort of do the same thing again. and so the idea that we’d be going to different dimensions really opened up an opportunity artistically to have each world have its own art style, and to be able to push the folks at ImageWorks to develop a way to have each dimension feel like it was drawn by a different artist’s hand. Seeing the development of that stuff is breathtaking and really, it’s the reason we keep doing it because it’s so hard to get it right.”
One of the visual goals of Into the Spider-Verse was the give the audience a sense of flipping through a comic book, but cinematically. While it was a risk, it was one that paid off because the film won both the Oscar and golden globe for best animated film in 2019. As Bob Persichetti, one of the directors on Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse, told The Hollywood Reporter: “In a conventional CG-rendered film, you are imitating ‘reality,’ but we were trying to imitate the feeling of flipping through a comic, where you get these really expressive ink drawings, but do that in a cinematic way.”
What Is Spider-Man: across the Spider-Verse Going To Be About?
Spider-Man: across the Spider-Verse will once again star Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore). He teams up with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld) in another dimension to take on a new villain. We can look forward to a whole new cast of Spider-Verse characters, including Spider-Man 2099 (alias: Miguel O’Hara), voiced by Oscar Isaac. If the teaser trailer is any indication, the art styles were certainly an “opportunity artistically.”
Spider-Man: across the Spider-Verse will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson. The screenplay is by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham. producers for the film include Lord and Miller, along with Avi Arad, Amy Pascal and Christina Steinberg.
