DC world Rebirth: The Deluxe Edition
The recent hardcover version (otherwise understood as the Deluxe Edition) of the DC world regeneration special is a quite good presentation/package, although I’m not sure that there’s truly sufficient additional stuff, beyond the shiny hardcover binding, to warrant it being called “Deluxe”. however if you want to judge for yourself, here’s a helpful rundown of the contents (beyond the fantastic story by Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, as well as Phil Jimenez, of course):
An introduction by president of DC home entertainment Diane Nelson (her very first for the company).
Reproductions of all the variant covers, in addition to chosen promotional artwork.
Annotations revealing the foreshadowing of the story’s major secret.
Major new character styles very first introduced right here (with annotations), including:
Batman by Greg Capullo
Superman by Patrick Gleason
Wonder lady by Tony S. Daniel
Nightwing by Javier Fernandez
Superboy by Jorge Jimenez
Donna Troy by Brett Booth
Wally West Flash by Brett Booth
Aquaman by Brad Walker
Green Arrow by Otto Schmidt.
Brett Booth’s style for Donna Troy.
A hidden plus is that the book is printed on paper of a heavier stock than the original comic, which is much much more receptive to the fine coloring by Brad Anderson, Jason Wright, Gabe Eltaeb, as well as Hi-Fi.
(Somewhat much more disturbing is the truth that “Eltaeb” is “Beatle” spelled backwards. What’s up with that? as well as “Hi-Fi” is likewise an old noise system that I utilized to play Beatles records on! Do these people understand who buried Paul?… Aren’t there sufficient conspiracy theories at DC these days, without this…?)
AND then THERE’S THE actual STORY…
A DC world regeneration Variant Cover
For those of you searching for much more about the actual story, I very first examined it back in May, as well as you can checked out it here.
Having checked out at least 100 private DC regeneration comics because then, I can honestly state that I’m both comprehending what’s going on there much much better than previously, as well as I am pleased that mainstream DC titles are when once again on my routine reading stack. Plus, I’m reading much more as well as much more of them in the exact same week that they are published (something I haven’t done routinely for years), as well as enjoying a big portion of them. Granted, I’m not reading 100% across the line rather yet. (Too numerous Batman titles are still making me want to go out into the woods as well as really punch bats — since the creators online as well far away).
But not whatever is perfect… yet. Re-reading DC world regeneration just recently reminded me of something that DC’s most likely not thrilled about me remembering. They teased all kinds of awesome things in the original one-shot to make us breathless in anticipation… however unless I missed something, they haven’t even gotten close to paying off any type of of those hints yet. I’m quite sure that I’m not alone in believing a pay-off (or three) ought to occur relatively soon… as well as it much better be worth the wait!

KC CARLSON SEZ: Aaaaannnnnnndddddd… I’m (mostly) outta right here for 2016!!! Roger will most likely have me do some kind of year-in-review piece for that limbo week between Christmas as well as new Year’s (assuming I make it through my annual 2,000-mile cross-country drive). Hi, Beau! much better get prepared for one of those truly long lunches…
WESTFIELD COMICS is not accountable for the dumb things that KC says. particularly that thing that truly irritated you. like exactly how 2016 mainly irritated me…
